This article was created using the software version FreeScan UE_v1.2.2.4.
When you scan an object ensure that the parameter of the scanner software fit to the object surface. Some surfaces are easy to scan, some surfaces need some software adjustments.
Object’s surface
Here are three examples for different surfaces:
Normal surface
This object has a surface which is not very dark, not reflective, and so easy to scan.
Reflective surface
This object has a reflective surface and to capture the data is not so easy with out the correct adjustments.
Black/Dark surface
This object has a dark surface and to capture the data you also need to adjust the scan parameters
Select the correct parameters
Before you start scanning, please ensure you choose the right resolution for you object. You will find more information in the following article:
FreeScan UE - Parameter setting
FreeScan UE - New project and resolution settings
“Normal” mode
When you have started the new projects and a surface which is not too dark or reflective like the first example you can use the objects settings "Normal" (surrounded red). If the capturing doesn't work so well, you can first let the software to adjust the brightness automatically by clicking on A (surrounded blue) or adjust it manually (surrounded orange). If the scanning is still not good, you can try another “Object” mode.
In the video you can see the scan workflow with these "Normal" settings.
“Reflective” mode
When the surface is more reflective, please use the reflective mode settings (surrounded red). If the capturing doesn't work so well, you can first let the software to adjust the brightness automatically by clicking on A (surrounded blue) or adjust it manually (surrounded orange). If the scanning is still not good, you can try another “Object” mode.
In the video you can see the scan workflow with these "Reflective" settings.
“Black” mode
When the surface is black/dark, please use the "Black" mode settings (surrounded red). If the capturing doesn't work so well, you can first let the software to adjust the brightness automatically by clicking on A (surrounded blue) or adjust it manually (surrounded orange). If the scanning is still not good, you can try another “Object” mode.
In the video you can see the scan workflow with these "Dark" settings.
Conclusion
For different surface you have different adjustments option in the software. Start with the 3 main settings "Normal", "Reflective" and "Black" then if the scanning is still not good change the parameters manually.
